Brown County Weekend - May 2010

We rented a vacation home with friends in Brown County, Indiana in May. This was a fabulous, NEW vacation home with rustic styling on the outside and craftsman styling on the inside. Nice rooms, gourmet kitchen, all bathrooms very stylish with double sinks, mudroom, deck, gas grill, hottub, fire pit, playground, pool table, air hockey table, ping pong table! Wireless internet, satelite tv, etc. This place had it all. Even though the weather did not cooperate for us to enjoy some hiking in Brown County State park, we still had fun just hanging out, soaking in the hottub, and having game tournaments. The babies all played well together and even bathed together! There was a high-chair at every corner of the table. Had some fussy babies for the group photos though. We're already booked for next year too! Can't wait!

90th Birthday Party

On January 9th, we threw a surprise birthday party for my grandfather who turned 90 on 1/10/10 (which is also my birthday). It was a great success. He was very surprised and thankful that so many people had come including relatives from Colorado, Ohio, and Texas, people from the town of Irvington, and even the town mayor. My grandfather's other great grandbaby was there, Madelyn Sandbach, who was born 2 weeks after Brendan. She lives in Colorado so this was the first time all of us in KY & IN had seen her also. The babies were the center of attention and got to check each other out too. (Granddad is in the background of the second photo)

Visit with Friends

On Andy's birthday, October 24th, we visited with our friends and their children at Stephanie's and Aaron's house in Northern KY. We had a good visit and all the kids got to meet each other. Brendan even got a fist bump from Blake. We watched and were all entertained as Sadie (Sara & Andy Siegmund's daughter--5 months) and Blake (7 months) played with Blake's toys on the floor while Brendan enjoyed Blake's infant swing with mirror and twirling bees. But the best was the surprise birthday cake (yellow with chocolate icing--yummmm!!) that AARON baked to celebrate Andy's birthday! Way to go Aaron! We like domesicated men for sure, right Steph?

Halloween

Brendan weighed 12 lbs 9 1/2 oz at his 2 month check up. He is a big boy now!! And he is holding his head up so well now!! He enjoys being held upright and getting to check everything out. He is also smiling and cooing more and more everyday. We love it! He doesn't go back to the pediatrician's office again until 12/23 when he is 4 months old. Included is a photo of Brendan as the mad scientist for Halloween with his jack-o-lantern bib on. Everywhere we go with him, people always comment on his hair. He and Andy watched out the window for trick-or-treaters to come by.

We had a great visit with Aunt Anita and Uncle Eric over the Halloween weekend. We all did some geocaching at Bernheim Forest near Bardstown and also visited the Buffalo Trace Distillery. It wasn't surprising that the distillery did not have a changing table in the bathrooms--I guess they don't expect babies to visit there!

Sorry I've been a bad blogger lately. Seems like everyone just uses Facebook to connect these days anyway. Here are some updated photos of Brendan. I can't believe he is almost 2 months old now. Two more days. He goes to the doctor on Friday for his two-month check up. I can't wait to see what he weighs now. Last time (one month) he weighed 9 lbs 3 oz.

He is on the verge of smiling at things now. We have seen a few brief smiles. I really want a full smile soon!!

This weekend we are visiting with Stephanie & Aaron Wagner and their baby Blake, and Sara Siegmund is driving over from IL with her baby Sadie. Her husband Andy can't make it. :( I can't wait to get the three babies together!

First Bath

Brendan had his first tub bath on Labor Day. He didn't fuss too much. He likes when we wash his hair--which looks awesome afterwards. He has rock star hair when it's dry. I love it when he is all clean and smells so good!
