Hospital Classes and Nursery update

Andy and I have been to two more classes at the hospital in preparation for the big event. We went to "Signs, Stages, and Phases of Labor" and "What to expect with Induction of Labor." Both were very informative and given by the same nurse who has many years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse. She is great. The stages of labor class was well attended and there was the video of a woman giving birth naturally (no drugs) at the end. It really wasn't as bad as I expected and they didn't show as much as I expected. I don't know if that is a good thing or not! The induction of labor class was smaller, there were only two other couples in it besides us. But it was good information and the best part was that the nurse brought all of the gear and devices that they hook you up to when you're in the hospital for us to examine up close. She said that they find that this stuff causes more anxiety with new parents than almost anything else. She showed us the monitors, the needle for the IV, the thing they break your water with, the suction cup, the bracelets, the tiny tube for the epidural drip and a few other things.

Also, we got to see the fabulous quilt that my mom (Nana) is making for the nursery on Saturday. It is so awesome with an entire woodland scene complete with deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds, butterflys, bugs and lots of trees and shrubs. I can't wait to post a photo of the finished quilt. We brought paint swatches with us to match up with some of the colors in the quilt so that we can get the room painted soon. We were able to pick out a blue and a green that match the quilt and go well together, so we are excited about that. It was also great to visit with my family on Saturday to celebrate my dad's birthday and Father's day. Even though it was hot, we still stayed outside in the shade most of the day. The guys did some fishing and everyone played with Lily, Carla's puppy.
